In partnership with the village halls next door we're putting up five nesting boxes for Common Swifts. These once common birds are now red-listed and in serious decline. After their long migration back from Africa to Ballater they will this year find lots of new nesting sites on local buildings. This project has been so successful that many houses round the village are also going to put up boxes. They can though be quite picky about where they sleep so it make take a couple of summers before they move in.
