Breakfast

Breakfast is served each day between 6.00 and 9.00am in our relaxing dining room with lovely views to Craigendarroch and Lochnagar.  This allows you the option of having an early start to hit the hills for a full day of walking or having a relaxed lie in before joining us at 9.

Our breakfast menu combines the very best in local meats, cheeses, salmon, breads and produce - many products hold either royal warrants or great taste awards.  We strive to always buy locally, to ensure the highest welfare standards and lowest food miles possible.  Deeside has an excellent selection of shops who can guarantee low food miles and other key welfare standards.  It also tastes fantastic too!

Our menu is much more than just a standard full cooked breakfast - with six meat main course options, three vegetarian main course options and eight smaller plate options there is sure to be something to catch your eye.  And if you really can't decide then we offer a Scottish tasting platter where you can sample the best of our local produce on one plate.

Guests following alternative diets for medical, ethical or lifestyle reasons need not worry either, we are happy to cater for vegeterians, vegans and pescetarians as well as gluten- and lactose-free diets.  Please just let us know in advance and we'll have everything ready.  If you would like to view more about our allergy approach please click here.

Sadly at present the local speciality Balmoral bread is not currently available as the village bakery has closed down.  We are using an artisan bread in its place until supply is restored.

Lunch & Dinner

Ballater is well served for high quality cafes and independent restaurants.  For your evening meal the village has excellent informal pubs who all serve food, wonderful Indian, Italian and Scottish restaurants, and also some fine dining options too.  For a very informal tea why not take fish and chips down to the river Dee and eat al fresco!  Your pre-arrival email sent one week before you arrive will include recommendations for dinner and advice on making table reservations.

For packed lunches the village supermarket supplies sandwiches and snacks or for an additional charge we are happy to prepare packed lunches for you to take away.
