Christmas Eve has brought some extra special magic in the form of the wonderfully rare nacreous (Mother of Pearl) clouds. These high altitude clouds are only formed when the upper air temperature reaches -78C and can only be viewed low in the sky. We'd had a few days of these iridescent beauties coming and going but Christmas Eve gave by far the best show. Naturally these were sent by Santa Claus himself to remind the local children he was on his way!
