At present Aberdeenshire is in Tier 4 of the Scottish Government five tier system (0-4). This allows us to remain open but only for essential workers. Advice also is that travel beyond Aberdeenshire should only be for essential purposes. Different parts of the UK are under many different tiers as are most other countries. It is clearly not possible to predict at this stage how restrictions will evolve during 2021.
Our standard booking policy is that we need only credit/debit card details to secure the booking and that you may cancel without penalty up to 3 days before your arrival date. We therefore request that guests book normally for stays in 2021 and ensure that they review current travel guidelines a few days before their booked stay, using the free 3 day cancellation option if necessary. Details about the current tier status of the guest house will always be updated here but it is the guest’s responsibility to ensure that they are permitted to travel to stay with us. If Government advice changes in the three days prior to your stay which means you are then unable to come please contact us for a full refund if you have already settled your account.
Guests should not travel to The Gordon if they are displaying any Covid symptoms and any guest who arrives who has breached travel regulations to reach us will regrettably not be permitted to stay. Any guest who develops symptoms while staying with us must notify us immediately and then follow the prevailing guidance at that time. At this time that would be to return home immediately.
We will be following best practice regarding face coverings, hand wash, room servicing etc. As this evolves frequently we will contact you shortly before your stay to advise what protocols are in place at that time.
The safety of our staff and our other guests as well as the ageing population of close-knit Ballater is our priority at all times and we ask you to respect that when booking and subsequently staying with us.
