Owners Steve and Beth Johnson took over The Gordon late in 2020 having holidayed here every year for over a decade.

Beth is a proud native of Jute, Jam and Journalism city Dundee and has a passion for (as well as a degree in) Scottish History.  She is very experienced in genealogy and would be happy to provide advice to guests seeking to trace their Scottish roots.  For most of her working life she provided advice to business start-ups and spin-outs at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.

Steve is a sustainability professional having worked as Environmental & Community Engagement Manager at Lothian Buses in Edinburgh and later as Environmental Adviser to Glasgow University.  In his time at Lothian Buses the company won many green awards including becoming the Best Large Green Company in Scotland in 2012 and introducing the first hybrid buses to Scotland in 2011.  You can read more about our sustainability goals for The Gordon here.  He is very interested in all things nature and transport and will happily provide local information to guests on either aspect.

You can see Steve in action at this link during a Painted Lady (butterflies) summer at Glasgow in 2019 .  Steve hails from a small coastal village between Seahouses and Alnwick in beautiful north Northumberland.
