Seven Bridges Walk

Distance 5 miles/8 km. Time 2-3 hours. Grade moderate. Waymarked route. A level route walked anti-clockwise giving views of the attractive hill scenery around Ballater. Seven bridges in total are crossed along the way.

Golf Course Walk

Distance 2 miles /3.2 km. Time 1 hour. Grade easy. Waymarked route. A very attractive short walk on level ground, with fine open views of the surrounding hills, following the course of the river. Dogs must be on a lead beside the golf course.

Craigendarroch Walk

Distance 2 miles/ 3.2 km. Grade difficult (200m ascent). Waymarked route. A variety of very attractive paths lead around the oak wood of Craigendarroch and up to the top, all just 5 minutes walk from the village centre. The summit offers panoramic views of Lochnagar, the Coyles of Muick and the village of Ballater itself, as well as views of the Dee valley. Care is needed on the steep rocky section to the top.

Sgor Buidhe Walk

Distance 5 miles/ 8 km. Time 2 ½ - 3 ½ hours. Grade difficult (270m ascent). Waymarked route. A splendid panoramic view of surrounding hills and the Dee valley, reached by way of a climb under the brow of Sgor Buidhe to the radio mast above.
